JMN, Jammsbro's Movie News. We opened on a sunday night in 2007 after watching 30 Days of Night and realising that there was nowhere honest left in the film news world. All the sites were either too big and too formal or too elitist and snooty. The other sites are good, yes, but we say what we think, review and discuss the movies we like and leave the rest in the dirt. Thanks to Firefly for the heads up on this trailer.

Scream 4

Courtney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell have all signed up to reprise their roles in the ever worsening Scream series. Scream 4 will be the start of a new trilogy of scream films and even though Campbell said she would never come back to it, her career has taken a steep nosedive into C-list obilivion.

Talent vaccum Kevin Williamson is once again writing the script and Wes Craven has been approached to direct.

The only question begs, what the hell are they doing this for other than money? Does anyone really want to see another rehash of these films? If they make Sydney the killer i'll crap in the cinema before i leave.

The film is slated for a 2010 release.

Book of Eli - first trailer

The first trailer for Denzel Washington's Book of Eli. Also starring Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis.

I was going to describe this as some people might skip the trailer but i won't. Instead just click play and watch Denzel kick the crap out of people for two minutes. And all is good.

Liv Tyler gets super

Liv Tyler, Ellen Page and Rainn Wilson have signed up for a new superhero comedy called Super. It tells of an average Joe who decides to adopt a superhero alter-ego and fight crime when he realises his wife has had a flirtatious fling with a local drug dealer. The only problem is that he has no powers, only a costume, a trusty wrench and a psychotic sidekick who works in the local comic book store with which to battle evil doers.

Rainn Wilson (The Rocker, The Office) will play costumed avenger while Liv Tyler will play his wife and Ellen Page the comic book girl sidekick. The film is in pre-production and is slated for a 2010 release.

A-Team news

The A-Team seems to be shaping up into what could be a cracking movie adaptation of the much loved TV show. Shooting has already begun on it and snaps of the A-Team van have been online this weekend. As you can see the van looks identical to the one from the show, which will please the fans most of all.

The cast are as follows

Liam Neeson as Hannibal Smith, Bradley Cooper as Faceman, Rampage Jackson as BA Baracus and District 9's Sharlto Copley as Howling Mad Murdock for the team. Jessica Biel also plays a CIA agent and now we are told that Watchmen's Patrick Wilson will play the agent tracking down the A-Team.

Wilson impressed me greatly in Watchmen ( he played Nite Owl 2), i hadn't seen much of him before that but for me he was the best thing in it and i'm glad he and Sharlto Copley are having their stars rise just now. Both are deserving.

With such a good cast brought in i can only imagine they are taking it a little more seriously and cutting out the cheese factor (that we loved, but would be better without). I hope this film is good, i really do.

Patrick Wilson.

Saw VI - new promo

This will contain minor spoilers about Saw VI, so if you don't know anything just ignore the rest of the text.

Here is the newest promo poster for Saw VI. It's hinting more at the Amanda storyline not being over and as some know, Shawnee Smith returns as Amanda for this one so i can only guess what her role will be this time. Hers might not be the only character returning too....

Bloody Disgusting are calling this one of the scariest films of all time. It's beena while since there was an outright and proper horror so i look forward to this.

Set in one night and filmed by the owners of a house, the girl believes something paranormal is happening in her house and the two decide to film what happens.

Watch the trailer.

Jennifers Body tv spot

Can't say that i'm excited about this. It looks like an early nineties, direct to video, C-movie that's being sold on the promise of a flash of Megan Fox's tits. Diablo Cody, come in, your time is up.

No more Superman

A new Superman movie being announced was expected by almost everyone, and soon at that as the rights expire in 2001 for DC to make one. But the head of DC entertainment has went on record stating that....

"We actually don't have any current plans for Superman," said Nelson when asked if the new environment (and the recent legal decision regarding the character) made a "Superman" movie more or less likely in the near future.

So, there are no plans for another Superman film at all? Poor news for fans. I was a fan of the last one after not expecting much from it and loved Brandon Routh in the lead.

Silent Hill 2

Silent Hill 2 has started early pre production under the lead of Samual Hadida who has hired Roger Avery to write the script. Hadida has the next sequel for the Resident Evil franchise coming out first, after which he can fully begin production on Silent Hill 2.

No plot details our outline has been released yet but it's unlikely that we'll be following on directly from the fate of Radha Mitchell's character in the first movie.

Cloverfield 2?

Cloverfield was one of the most refreshing and original movies of the last ten years and i loved it completely, even though i felt sick as a dog the first time i watched it. It's marketing strategy was pure genius, use the web to promote it to within an inch of it'slike by NOT telling anyone anything about it. Not like the Matrix where it blew its load and not like Blair Witch by telling you the story straight off. Cloverfield told you nothing, showed you less and had everyone guessing, blogging, posting and discussing it for over a year. By the time it came out word of mouth had created a phenomenon about a film that no-one knew anything about. And it worked.

JJ Abrams said that there most likely would be a Cloverfield 2 and that is pretty much all he has given away. But today this has surfaced on the web, a video that is being touted as the first viral video for Cloverfield 2. Could this be the start of JJ's campaign to promote what is sure to be an extremely highly anticipated movie? Take a look as see what you think.

Well? I think it could be. Alot of people are saying that he won't go down the same route as the first one and use hand held cameras and i agree. But what better way to bridge the divide between the two films that to guide us back in by showing other peoples footage recovered from New York after the attack? I think that we'll see more of these videos popping up. After all, how many people could have been recording that day?

Think it's the start of Cloverfield 2 or not?

Jack Sparrow returns!!!!

In a very surprise move at the recent Disney expo Johnny Depp showed up in full Jack Sparrow regalia and announced that the fourth Pirates of the Carribean movie is going ahead after all and that it starts filming next year for a 2011 release date.
The film will is officially titled Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides. Speculation is that it refers to a pirate book about a pirate named Jack Shandy. The official desription of the book is thus...

" Puppeteer John Chandagnac, who was sailing to Jamaica to get revenge on the uncle who had stolen his father's inheritance, has no choice but to join the buccaneers who have taken him prisoner--and soon, known now as the pirate Jack Shandy, he finds himself learning to survive in a treacherous new world of cutlass-fights, sea-battles, and voodoo magic on sun-blinded tropical islands. The legendary Blackbeard is assembling a ruthless navy of pirates living and undead to voyage to the fabled Fountain of Youth, and Jack Shandy must use magic, swordsmanship, and even his puppeteer skills to free himself and the girl he has fallen in love with from Blackbeard's deadly supernatural domination. "

We last saw Jack in a tiny boat with the compass and the centre of Barbossa's map. Both were intent on finding the fountain of youth. Barbossa has the Pearl and Sparrow has the map so will they team up to fight the dreaded Blackbeard? Will Jack find love? And if he does who will it be with?

So far all we know is that Depp is returning as Sparrow and with most of the rest of the cast saying that their pirating days were over but the lure of another pirates will draw more than one back for at least an extended cameo i am willing to bet.

Gone is Gore Verbinski and in steps Rob Marshall to direct. By the sounds of the plot i would say that he will have to be full on tech savvy to handle this film as anyone who watched the dvd extras on the last POTC film will know it's a technical nightmare.

I'm glad Jack's back and a little more glad that the cast will be thinned out because it just got way overcrowded towards the end. No-one got real screen time and even though the ensemble cast worked it was murderous trying to enjoy the film whilst keeping up with the constant backstabbing and switcheroos.

No Keira Knigtley is a shame but at least we don't have to suffer Orlando Blooms Will turnip, or whatever he was called.

How do you feel about more Jack and Barbossa? Would you like to see anyone else come back or new cast members?

Thanks to Firefly for this news!

Black dynamite trailer

I got masses of questions about this when it first came out, whether or not it was a real film or a spoof trailer, when it was coming out....

Well it is real, it is badass and it is coming out. So check out the trailer for Black Dynamite and enjoy mofo's.

Sharlto Copley for A team?

Right, first off. If you haven't seen District 9 yet, what the hell are you doing? Get to the cinema and see it. It's one of the best films in ten years and you'll probably rent or watch something crappy this weekend while missing out on this masterpiece.

Now onto the piece. Sharlto Copley (who plays the lead Wickus Van Der Werke in D9) has been offered the part of Howling Mad Murdock in the (finally) upcoming A-Team movie. This guy was amazing in D9 and should get an oscar for his role. Honestly, he was that good.

Obviously he's impressing the right people because they want him now and shooting for the film has already begun and with the other cast members in place they need to lock him in now.

Already playing are Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Face and UFC star Rampage Jackson as BA Baracus.

I say go for it Sharlto, can't that a bad move.

Toy Story 3 update

Just a short update on Toy Story 3. Timothy Dalton (of 007 fame) has signed on to play the voice of Mr Pricklepants the hedgehog in TS3, a luvvie thespian toy who's only love is acting. Should be quite funny with Daltons great vocal talents.

I hear that the plot revolves around Andy going to college and when he does he ditches all his toys in a bag in the attic, only Woody and Buzz are taken with him. When Andy's sister finds the toys they are dumped on the street for the bin man. One swift, seemingly rescue later, Woody and Buzz find out that the gang have been donated to a daycare centre where the toys are horribly abused by the younger children. Cue a mass rescue mission that only Toy Story can provide. Like the previous two, i bet this is ace.

Akira gets new writers

Okay, i'm not getting excited about this, ever.

Akira is the best animated movie i have yet seen, on many levels and the long, lonnnggggg mooted live action version has been kicked back to life more times than Jason and Freddy but after the last failed attempt (which was set to star Leonardo DICaprio and set in a future New York. I know, dumb as hell) most people felt it was dead for good. But now the writers of Children of Men, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby haver been signed to adapt the movie.

The skinny? It's still set in Neo Manhattan and is expected to cost $300m.

1st, This is a Japanese classic, it's story, ethics, background and culture are firmly set in a future Japan, it was one of the main points of Akira that made that world so incredible. Keep it in Japan

2nd This movie does not need to cost $300m, i can't imagine a single movie that does. I'm as familiar with Akira as anyone and with todays technology the spectacular can be done with far, far less money. Take a look at District 9, utterly believable and cost a tenth of that. Take a lesson and stop spending ridiculous amount of money on films.

3rd Either do an adaptation of Akira as it is or leave it be. The sole reason this has been transposed to the US is to interest US audiences in case they don't go to the cinema.

For those who aren't familiar with Akira here is the blu ray trailer.

3 tv spots for Surrogates

Here are three new tv spot promos for the sci-fi thriller Surrogates. It stars Bruce Willis, Radha Mitchell, Rosamund Pike, Ving Rhames and James Cromwell. Johnathan Mostow (T3) directs.

I'd explain the plot but the vids will do a better job.

Stallone clears up rambo v plot

Stallone has apparently been in contact with aicn to clear up any misleading and fake plotlines about Rambo V circulating around the movie sites. He wants rumour control. So out goes the plot about Rambo heading into Mexico to rescue a kidnapped girl from human traffickers and in comes this...

A top secret wing of the US military have been trying to tap into the darkest, most primal nature of man in order to make the perfect, most cunning, violent and ruthless killer they can in order to create the perfect soldier. They succeed but the creature massacres everyone and escapes from the facility in the arctic and then proceeds to head south to the forest wilderness of the US. Rambo is then enlisted to hunt down the creature and face something that is smarter, stronger, more cunning and more violent than himself. Basically Rambo vs Predator.

It's called Rambo V: The Savage Hunt
Here is a written synopsis. I know this sounds like a step into sci-fi for Rambo but it might be an excellent step.

If you want to hear it from the man himself click on this link to hear it.

Stallone details Rambo V

So, you like the idea or not? I think its killer.

the road - first posters

Here are the first posters for the film adaptation of The Road. It's a post apocalyptic thriller set several years after an unnamed cataclysm destroyed most of life and plant life on earth. Now humans scrape together and survive by violence and cannibalism. The plot tells of a father who must take his young song on a journey to protect him from a gang of marauding cannibals intent of feeding on them. It's taken way more seriously than it sounds and i expect it to be really good.

Robert Duvall and Charlize theron also star.

Confucious trailer

I doubt many of you will have heard about this, i only remember hearing a bit about it last year and promptly forgot. Its a film starring Chow Yun Fat as the titular character Confucious.
Confucious was a Chinese philosopher who changed the course of Chinese history and started a philosophical momvement that still has millions of followers today. His life was spent in the midst of the Chinese political system where he strived for fairness and justice for the Chinese people, something which has made him a legend to the Chinese people.

The film looks, like most well budgeted eastern films, genuinely beautifully shot and filmed with something western film-makers have completely lost the ability to utilise, patience. The end product is always the aim and not the end box office. Maybe this is why western audiences have really begun to appreciate eastern cinema becoming more and more available to them.

One thing i am glad of though is there is no wire fighting kung fu in this film. I know it's nothing to do with him but i got really sick of overly long and needless elaboration of kung fu as a metaphor and a chance to show of in films like Hero. If you take the wire work out of these films they'd be really short.

Will you take the time to go and see or rent Confucious? Does eastern cinema interet you at all?

Fatanstic 4 reboot still go

20th century fox have made progress with their planned reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise. The films which were only recently released (2005 and 2007) were moderatly seuccesful at the box office but garnered mostly negative reviews (once again studios utilising toy marketing cash in to force parents to take their children to the latest fad movie, why everyone goes for the widest audience rating possible) so now the film is being "re-imagined by producer Akiva Goldsman (Hancock, Constantine) as a "darker, grittier version". Michael Green (Heroes, Smallville) will write.

Batman Begins, the Bourne films, both are superb and both have kickstarted a trend for producers and directors to have their films taken more seriously without losing box office returns. More and more films are going down this route and finally cinema goers aren't being treated like spoon fed morons any more but this kind of thing still annoys me. Too many film-makers who didn't have the balls to make films of this nature now spout rhetoric about "being true" to their material by rooting it in grim reality. No more so than the rebooted Bond movies. Let us not forget that bond was an overblown, cheesy, unbelievable mess of a series that was specifically churned out to please fans and make a steady box office return every time. Bond had long since expired from its time as an exciting and entertaining series of films and it's leads had grown more and more tiresome (hell even Roger Moore was entertainment back then). So rather than create and deliver something of their own imagination they piggy backed onto something another, truer film-maker took the initiative to do first.

In short, no Bourne, no new Bond, no Batman Begins, No new Fantastic Four. This is noting we didn't know before but it just annoys the hell out of me when producers and directors release press docs stating their desire to make films of this nature when they were perfectly happy for years releasing the same old mindless popcorn drivel year after year with zero desire to step outside of the safe zone, terrified of losing profits of any kind, actuley aware that a majority of their projects did not hold water. These filmakers want to project the image that their intention is to make films with integrity and stay true to the spirit of the project while respecting the audience but its far from the truth. Realism is very cool and very accepted now in film (it always was but we rarely had it delivered at the blockbuster level) but i tell you, if films in the style of the awful Transformers sequel were in vogue and cool right now then the new Fantastic Four reboot would be touted as a "Bigger, bolder, more action oriented" movie experience. Don't believe the shit.

Rant over, for now.

Trailer looks seriously good. Might even be the sequel we were looking for.

So it looks like Man on Fire on PCP. Who cares, looks ace.

Okay, so it's the right more. We'll get quality. But another year??
